© Rechtbank Kortrijk 1-2

The sleek architecture and transparency of the new Kortrijk courthouse reflect the logical legal system and the judicial authority. The severe black-white combination emphasizes the seriousness with which good and evil, right and wrong are treated here. Can the rigour of legal thinking be questioned by art? Can it be challenged, to better justify itself?
The work of Pieter Vermeersch is able to question this rigour. The progressive use of color and light by the artist questions the negation of any emotion in court .

This project was a collaboration with Arts Centre Buda.
